Registering with CBIE

Upon arriving in the United States, you should contact James McCallum (jmccallum@cbie.ca), Program Administrator at CBIE. A list of the CBIE contacts can be found here.

You must send the following documents so that we can open a new file for you at CBIE:

  • All documents from the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research stating  the scholarship recipients name, nominated program, scholarship start date and length of study

  • The decree from the Ministry of Finance that confirms the scholarship is funded

  • A copy of the nominated student’s passport, US visa, stamped I-94 and stamped I-20. The same documents must be sent for each family member accompanying the student to the United States

  • A copy of the admission letter from the US institution that provided the I-20
  • A completed Student Information form

  • A completed Consent form

  • A void check from an American bank

  • A completed Contact Information form, found here

  • Copies of your degree and transcripts.

Because it will take some time for the Settling-in Allowance to be transferred to the student’s bank account, it is wise to come to the United States with enough living allowance money (food and accommodations) to last until the Settling-in Allowance arrives.
