Health Insurance

For Regular Scholarship Students

CBIE provides medical health and dental insurance for all sponsored Libyan students in Canada through Manulife Financial. Detailed information regarding plan benefits - which starts effective your date of arrival in Canada - will be made available in the Orientation Manual which will be distributed to you as you begin your scholarship.

If you are a current student and are unsure of the details of your health insurance, please contact Ms. Anan Terhi (aterhi@cbie.ca), and she will provide you with an electronic copy of the Manulife booklet which contains the specifics of your plan coverage.

If you reside in the Province of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba or Saskatchewan, you will also be required to apply for a provincial health insurance plan. In these cases, CBIE will advise you further concerning the instructions for each application.

When completing claims for submission to Manulife Financial, always ensure that you include your current address as this will be used by Manulife for mailing purposes. CBIE is not responsible for notifying Manulife Financial of any changes to your contact information.

Any changes to your insurance profile must be made through CBIE. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions Section if you have recently been married or have had a new baby.

For more information, please contact Manulife Financial Customer Service Centre at 1-800-268-6195 or visit their website: http://www.manulife.ca. You will be asked for your contract and certificate number, which will be provided to you by CBIE as you begin your scholarship.

For claims, please fill Manulife’s Claim Form and send it directly to Manulife Financial with all invoices. Students will be reimbursed if the expenditure is covered by the plan.

For Self-funded Scholarship Students

Health insurance is an entitlement for the primary scholarship student only and is paid by CBIE directly to the student's institution, through the university's health insurance plan.
